What is full of holes and glows in the dark?

  • We've been trying out the latest Osprey rules set Rebels & Patriots recently. The last two weeks Chris' Tory militia have taken on Bryan's French in the encounter type battle from the book.

In both these games the dastardley French TM led by the dashing Armmand have been victorious. Armmand invariably seems to roll well on his leadership traits and then his unit steadfastly refuses to move forward throughout the game. Instead Armmand sits astride his charger and bravely florishes his tricorn with its gay cockade. Its a tactic that has proved successful so far.

The Tories for their part were led by the uncharismatic T. May in the last game and a certain Klaus von Wunderlich in the first game. Unfortunately a number of failed activations saw their attack on the Lower Pee Dee village falter in both games.

Some random pics from the first game below:-

Klaus is distracted by the church, he wonders if it contains an organ.

The action unfolds as the dastardly FrenchTM firstly shell the church and then drive Klaus' boys from the village

The dastardly FrenchTM artillery proved very effective in this game , shelling the church and driving Klaus' sharpshooters from the building and then providing cover for the advancing cavalry and infantry. Armmand will of course claim it was the vigorous waiving of his cockaded hat that inspired elan in his troops and brought victory.

The answer to the question posed in the title.

The church in Lower Pee Dee. Repeated French shelling left it full of holes and its timbers distinctly singed.
