Adriatic Campaign
1807 - Following the Wars of the 3rd and 4th Coalitions, and the ensuing complete Russian withdrawal, France is once more in control of Corfu and other Ionian Islands that secure the gateway to the Adriatic. This opens the door to French expansion into the Balkans.
Austrians, Prussians and the British move to intercede before France can establish a bridgehead on the eastern shore while Spain, still smarting from the reversal at Trafalgar, support the French.
With Naval movement comes the elimination of traditional front lines in the conflict. Instead it's a game of cat and mouse, rarely fought at greater than company level, as each side tries inflict costly blows while preserving their own forces for the greater battles that are sure to come.

Meanwhile the Spanish peasants, horrified by the depredations of the French, rise up in opposition under the leadership of Don Chico.
