Action on the road from Da Gorda

  • Lead elements of the Dutch Hussars and Hannovarian Chasseurs reoprt back that they spotted some red coat skirmishers on the far river bank. They engaged them in skirmish and report driving them off causing them several losses. They appear keen for further action and it is clear they feel they got the better of the enemy and await further orders. The units have taken 1 Disorder Point each.

  • Can you run through the next weeks actions:

Spend Supply Points (note any out of supply situations)
Attempt to recover Disorder (note remaining Disorder Points )
Both issue orders/ Allies roll for guerrillas

So spend supply points inc if you are using to rally disorder.

Roll for disorder point recovery (one for the table to use and one for each unit)

Issue orders (you have taken square 8 now).

For your scouts do you want them to pursue if they beat the enemy or drive them off and then await the rest of the force maintaining contact with the force?

Also if they need support can you name the supports that will feed in?

    Craig

Do you want to build the fortification on square 8 or wait till you take square 7? 8 is fairly near Da Gorda so pretty secure.

Steve can you roll me 8 D6 please? I need more dice scores to finish your leader profile.

  • pete, I'll spend points trying to recover the disorder, was it three dice to roll, if so 3,3,1.

The cavalry will drive off the scouts, keeping contact with the main force, I'll feed in the Irish legion voltiguers, light gun and 1st platoon of Hanover legion to support them if needed. All unit's advance one spwce

  • Action at Bexiga Chaga (French)

As the Dutch Hussars and Hannovarian Chasseurs moved towards a small farm on to road to Bexiga Chaga they spotted 2 units of enemy light cavalry. As they weren’t outnumbered and keen to follow on from their previous successful actions they engaged in musketry and then charged.

There followed a couple of hours (2 rounds) of backwards and forwards of melee and musketry that was evenly matched.

Hearing the protracted gunfire the back up force of Hannovarian Line, Light Gun and Irish Voltigeurs hurried forward at which point the Britsh Light Cav units fell back on to the left flank of Bexiga.

It was clear there was a light enemy presence in the village and also an enemy line unit on the far river bank as well as the two units of light cav on the wooded hillside on the left flank of the village

With their blood up the commander on the ground ordered the light gun and Hannovarian Line to assault the village, the Irish Voltigeurs to ford the river and attack the enemy on the far bank and the Dutch and Hannovarian Light Cav to have another go at the opposing units of light cav.

Forming up in columns of assault and with drums pounding the Hannovarian Line supported by the light gun battery started the attack with the Dutch and Hannovarian cav charging the opposing cav and the Irish assaulting the enemy on the far river bank.

After 2 hours of fighting the cavalry are evenly balanced in their melee with the opposing enemy cavalry. The Hannovarian Line have not succeeded in gaining a foothold in Bexiga (2 assaults have been repulsed) however they have caused the enemy casualties and it has been quite even. The Irish have just broken what seemed to be a weakened unit on the far side of the river.

The cavalry have done a lot of fighting today, both units have 4DP (getting quite beat up) , the Hannovarians are still in quite good shape and have 2DP, the Irish have 2DP but as noted have routed their opponents. There’s still a couple of hours daylight but the rest of the column will take most of that the reach Bexiga, get out of line of march and support the attack.

What are your orders for the remainder of the days actions? What are your orders for the next weeks actions (including any possible pursuit)?

  • the cavalry can hold position and skirmish, the hanoverian infantry should exchange fire but wait for reinforcements from the main column. The Irish can pursue their opponents.

Any possible pursuit should be done by the heavy cavalry from the vanguard and the remaing hanoverian infantry from the vanguard should support the cavalry.

Then spend my available supply points trying to recover the cavalrys disorder points. Then the vanguard should move one space forward, if the able
