Nice work Craig! I've been painting some Bolt Action German Grenadiers but for another rule set, found a YouTube guide that was easy to follow. It didn't make me want to rage quit from doing the cameo patterns either

Cymru cavalry....
Are these the Gripping Beast Late Roman plastic cavalry?
-
that was my favorite WAB supplement as it's an era I am just fascinated by, I blame Bernard Cornwell's Winter King trilogy!

I bought a pack of the Roman Citizens at Phalanx. They are for the Gangs of Rome rules but will of course fit in with Slave Revolt armies. I checked out the Gangs rules set but I'm not really caught by that expensive (£5) mini plus card etc marketing scheme so I checked out other rules. Song of Shadows and Dust seemed pretty good from reviews so I bought a set. If anyone is interested we can give them a go some time. We have all the terrain and minis we need already.
I knew they were the right set of rules when I saw they had Poultry and Irritable Mule rules ( they must have been thinking about you Dave).
Speaking of minis here are some of the Roman Citizens made up and some kitbash ones ( mixed with Andys prints).
Hate to say it but I now have more Slave minis than will fit in a 10 litre box!
Alan was a big fan of the A Song of rules system and we played it in 15mm and it was fun, and at the club I go to now in Leeds we occasionally play Advanced A Song Of Blades and Heroes in 28mm. Also play alot Of Gods And Mortals which is an Osprey one but by the same person who came up with the rules system. I recently got the French Indian War version as I want to build up a couple of forces gradually to then play Rebels & Patriot games

Nothing wrong with LR2 but those deep infantry blocks really have that Ancients vibe for me.
I can understand that Pete, the WAB multiple ranks look better than small 12 man units
-
I have found the OG lines to be very hit and miss, I bought a pack of there Pict archers 2nd hand from Colonel Bills and there ok as unit fillers
-
Out of curiosity what modifications are you making to Lion Rampant to make them more suitable for ancients? I know there was an article in an issue of WSS about using 1st edition for chariot era games.
-
I am really loving the narrative of this campaign, looking forward to the next installment!
-
I have to admit this has always been one of my favorites, I blame Bernard Cornwell's Winter King Trilogy and my love of early to late dark ages! It'll be great when victrix release there Early Saxons plastic set next year as I can reinforce my all metal army!
-
Fair enough, I know Lardies did a set as well but there rules I've found a bit too different for my liking tbh. I'd forgotten in the new edition of Lion Rampant there are dark age lists
-
I don't know if you've tried them but Dux Bellorum from Osprey Games by Daniel Mersey is a great set of rules for this period
-
are these the Warlord Games plastic and metal minis?
-

From reading your experiences playing it I am really glad I didn't buy myself a set tbh! Think I'll stick with Grimdark Future too!
-
so many releases, New Kingdom Egyptians in plastic will be useful for me and my Of Gods And Mortals stuff
-
they've come out lovely and crisp Andy

hello all!
I'm planning to come over the border on Sunday to get my Frostgrave books. I was wondering if anyone with knowledge of using an airbrush would be willing to give me a beginners lesson again? I've not really used mine much at all and it doesn't seem to want to work despite all my tinkering!?
