This Friday is Matchday Two of the Sol System Major League season.

Only playing a few games doesn’t mean you can’t get to the final as one of the qualifying criteria is average points.

You don’t need a team, you don’t need to know how to play, just turn up, we’ll run through the rules and you can start lobbing around your titanium balls like it’s 1999.

Be there for 7:45 so we can draw the fixtures.

I left them charging all night and they still didn’t perform. I’m not an IT expert. I just tell them how to play. Stupid targeting computer glitch.

I was confident when they stepped out onto the neodurium, their yellow and rose chassis’ gleaming under the glare of the lights and the crowd. The klaxon sounded and immediately the robots began to work in tandem, Epsilon Orange pushing Jackal out of the way, allowing Delta Green a free strike for the opening two points. Which he missed.

The robots were pushed around allowing Swagger to swagger through the defence and open up the scoring with a single point. Minor setback, I thought, as Gamma Red went on a smashing spree and Sigma white set himself up for an easy three pointer. Which he missed.

Bear then began removing the Orbitals from the pitch with a round of exploding 6 smashing that left the robots quite depleted and allowed Lucky to saunter through for another two points.

This time it was Omega Black’s turn to have a go at a strike, sprinting from the bench and scooping up the ball whilst Gamma Red continued his limp pushing of the Scrawpers, opening up a small gap that allowed Omega Black the freedom to miss another strike for the Orbitals.

Another. Seriously, the targeting computer was waaay off.

Fortunately we didn’t have to rely on it again, as after the Scrawpers went 5 up, Delta Green scooped up the ball, and despite 2 cards allowing 2 rerolls, still managed to fall flat on his dumb robot face attempting a simple evade. The ball scattered kindly for the corporation team, and they finished the match with some aplomb, a cool 3-pointer from Lucky that had the crowd both cheering the humans and booing the badly malfunctioning metal twerps.

They’re still under warranty. A man is coming out to fix them on Tuesday.

This Friday is Matchday One of the new Sol System Major League season.

You don’t need a team, you don’t need to know how to play, just turn up, we’ll run through the rules and you can start lobbing around your titanium balls like Optimus Prime down the slag pits of Vag.

Be there for 7:45 so we can draw the fixtures.

    Transfers and Loans

MVPs will NOT be available for transfer (permanent purchase) during this season. All other players, including those of a different race, are available for transfer (subject to transfer premium).

MVPs are available for loan only this season, on a match by match basis.

There has been new, official errata, please see the files section.

    Team Construction

Teams are to be built from a starting kitty of 1000mc. It is advised you use the recommended teams from the rulebook. N.B. these recommended teams do not always total 1000mc, so you may start with a small amount of money in the bank.

    Matchdays

Please be at the club by 19:45 for a kick off of 20:00

Fixtures will be determined semi-randomly on the night.

Should we have an odd number of teams, three of the teams will be involved in a game of Ultimate Dreadball (it will be attempted to ensure each team plays roughly the same number of ultimate games in a season).

    Televised Games

One game per Matchday will be ‘televised’ and use the Event Deck. This will be the match between the teams with the most combined number of Cheers (determined randomly in the case of a tie). Teams involved in televised games gain an additional die for revenue.

The latest Sol System Major League is now open to sign-ups. Kick off will be Friday 7th February.

We have a number of teams people can borrow.

Please post here if you are in.

    Details

There are three ways to qualify for the Championship game (a 3-way game of Ultimate at the beginning of May)

    1. Team with the most points after 7 rounds

    2. Team with the highest average points after 7 rounds (minimum of 3 games played to qualify)

    3. Team with the most Cheers

Games will be played on pre-determined 'Dreadball evenings' at the club, scheduled every fortnight/three weeks (dates to follow).

Just turn-up and play - opponents will be drawn randomly on the night.

Should we have an odd number of teams, there will be a game of Ultimate involving three of the teams present.
