Another Sunday dominated by painting and modelling.

Dave and Rik ensured that at least some games got played. They kicked off the night with another round of Legendary Encounters - Alien Deckbuilding Game

They followed this up with a round of 7 Wonders Duel

Pete, Steve, Ian, Rik, Mike, Craig, Bryan, Will and I manned the painting tables.

Pete was continuing to work on his American War of Independence minis.

Steve is STILL working on the HMS Victor Victoria. The race is on now to see if Steve can finish this model in less time than it took Meyer-Werft to assemble Graf Goezen, then disassemble, transport her over 8000 miles from Papenburg to Kigoma and then reassemble her.

Ian's working on some 40k Orks.

Rik continues work on the abominable Sloppity Bilepiper and friends.

Craig gets his D&D character table ready.

Bryan working on some AWI troops to face Pete.

and I borrow Rik's very suspicious, but very effective, homemade static grass applicator tool to continue my basing adventures.

The quiet summer spell continued with just 6 brave souls enduring a steamy scout hall.

I continued the basing prep on my Zulus (they're all on the beach it seems).

Meanwhile Mike, Adam, Rebecca, Dave and Paul played superheroes with Marvel Legendary Deckbuilding Game
<a href="https://www.amazon.co.uk/Marvel-Legendary-Deck-Building-Game/dp/B00A4KHEK0/ref=as_li_ss_il?ie=UTF8&qid=1530616711&sr=8-1&keywords=legendary+marvel&linkCode=li1&tag=wigangamesclu-21&linkId=da7bd8ff259ad9dc75dcc1a5b85e474a" target="_blank"><img border="0" src="//ws-eu.amazon-adsystem.com/widgets/q?_encoding=UTF8&ASIN=B00A4KHEK0&Format=_SL110_&ID=AsinImage&MarketPlace=GB&ServiceVersion=20070822&WS=1&tag=wigangamesclu-21" ></a><img src="https://ir-uk.amazon-adsystem.com/e/ir?t=wigangamesclu-21&l=li1&o=2&a=B00A4KHEK0" width="1" height="1" border="0" alt="" style="border:none !important; margin:0px !important;" />
As I understand the guys had a dreadful start but put up stiff resistance, taking the fight to a close finish, before ultimately succumbing to Red Skull.

Later Mike, Adam, Rebecca and Dave played Lost in R'Lyeh
<a href="https://www.amazon.co.uk/Atlas-Games-ATG01370-Lost-RLyeh/dp/1589781635/ref=as_li_ss_il?ie=UTF8&qid=1530618276&sr=8-1&keywords=lost+in+r'lyeh&linkCode=li1&tag=wigangamesclu-21&linkId=055e57fd6d11ba41b5a0fb427ae243f2" target="_blank"><img border="0" src="//ws-eu.amazon-adsystem.com/widgets/q?_encoding=UTF8&ASIN=1589781635&Format=_SL110_&ID=AsinImage&MarketPlace=GB&ServiceVersion=20070822&WS=1&tag=wigangamesclu-21" ></a><img src="https://ir-uk.amazon-adsystem.com/e/ir?t=wigangamesclu-21&l=li1&o=2&a=1589781635" width="1" height="1" border="0" alt="" style="border:none !important; margin:0px !important;" />
Did you fair any better with this one guys?

Often times Sunday at the club is as much an opportunity to come along and chill out with friends as it is an opportunity for gaming. So it was this Sunday with only Dave and Bryan choosing to game while everyone else pulled out the paints or simply pulled up a chair.

Dave and Bryan tried out Dragon Rampant with Bryan's knights taking on Dave's horde of undead. Keep an eye out on the wargames discussion board for a full write up, but the tl:dr is Dave's undead are now actually dead. Bryan was left to rue breaking one of the club's golden rules - always let Dave win the first game.

Meanwhile Ian, Rik, Craig, Will, Pete, Steve and I were all manning the painting tables.

Ian was working on some Sci Fi vehicles.

Rik made progress on one of his many Sloppity Bilepiper Daemon's of Nurgle.

Craig got to work on his Monk character for D&D that Rik had printed on his SLA printer.

Will made progress on his French Napoleonics, preparing for some Chosen Men battles against Mike's British.

Pete continued his work on some American War of Independence models.

Steve entered month 7 of his 'minor cleanup' of the 3D printed boat he purchased. Believe it or not there is actually still the superstructure of a 3D printed boat beneath all this.

Finally, I got to work basing my Zulus and found that they look quite good on the beach!

Pete, Dave, Bryan and I enjoyed another game of Pulp Alley, again within the Travails of '44 campaign.

Read the full story over on the campaign board but the short version is - it's really hard to kill a priest!

Mike, Adam and Rebecca play some Star Wars Destiny CCG.

    Day 9

After following the river for a day we found ourselves in a region with swampland on the other side of the path. The place was thick with reeds, rushes and vines and the smell was awful.

We shortly realised that the smell was from an armour clad human lying dead some way into the marshes.

Ever keen to rifle through a corpse's pockets Erick quickly approached the fallen man. While Erick was careful to watch out for man made traps none of us were prepared for the ground around the body to come to life.

In a second the vines around Erick's feet slipped up and around his body, binding his arms in place. Dozens of additional vines flew up simultaneously, flailing at the rest of the party. Najare and Ilfinka were immediately trapped, Ilfinka suffering a desparate wound from a gaping maw that rose up from the waters.

At the second attempt I managed to free Najare from the twisting vines and together we sent flames surging over the heart of the creature. It recoiled and shrank visibly in the burning fire.

The creature lashed out and bound me but Najare was free to continue his fiery onslaught and the creature was soon consumed by the inferno.

After confirming the creature was dead we attended to the dead knight and recovered his heraldic breast plate before departing the area to make camp away from the marsh.

After some hours we met the fallen knights kinsmen. Grateful for news of their comrade they invited us back to the nearby village.

Tomorrow we meet their liege lord but for tonight we can get our first proper rest since we left Thaddeus.
What I'd give to be attacked by Orcs again. At least they fight on dry land!

It was D&D time once again for GM Mike and players, Craig, Will and I as we continued on our Star-Fallen adventure.

This time it was just a mini adventure as we travelled in search of a town for resupply. See more on the Star Fallen Chronicles board

Dave and Rik dusted off Legendary Alien, a co-op card game where the players are fighting to survive the Alien horde.

It looks like a nail biting moment for Rik, while Dave does his best impression of a human. You're fooling no one Dave, better luck next time.

The painting tables were well manned once again with Rik, Bryan, Pete and Steve all present.

This would be a picture of craftsmen focussed on their work but for Rik.

The question is, what is he doing with his finger? Pointing at the camera or sticking it up his nose?

And what's he holding? A pot of green stuff? Paint? Or a record setting sized bogey?

With the club quieter than an old west ghost town Alan, Darren, Rik and I drew our guns and put on our stetsons to play Flick 'Em Up, a dexterity based game where two gangs of five outlaws(?) manoeuvre around town and try to defeat one another by flicking bullets. Each outlaw gets two actions per turn (generally move or shoot) and any outlaw hit 3 times is eliminated (thereby reducing the activations their side gets).

Al and I lined up against Darren and Rik and inevitable the fight came down to a final duel.

Relive the Encounter at Dry Bottom.

Alex, Russ and Bryan took the skies as clouds (yes, clouds) in Petrichor, a game where players compete to water plants and crops to earn the title Most Valuable Cloud!

They also played a couple of other games over the course of the evening but I've neglected to capture those. Mea culpa.

Darren, Al, Rik and I finished off the night with a game of Dwarf King which, unusually, ended in a photo finish with Al's early lead being clawed back over the course of the rounds until I squeaked ahead in round six and held on in the last with both Al and Darren only a point behind and Rik a mere couple of points further adrift. Darren was deserving of particular praise for scoring all 11 points on offer in the last round to turn around an otherwise dismal performance up to the point (and earn me the win).

A totally not staged photo because I forgot to take a pic during the course of the game. It is, however, an accurate representation of Al's poker face!

The dastardly Black Hand gang spread out across the far end of the street, while the dashing White Knights deployed their famed conga line low frontage column.

The early exchanges had little effect on either side, with bullets flying left and right, but rarely true.

As each side pursued one another into the building several duels were fought out with victories on both sides.

Wounds began to mount up on both sides but it started to become clear that the Black Hand gang had an ace up their sleeve. The man with no name, called Rik!
A veteran of dozens of shootouts his accuracy from all ranges made the White Knights despair as they fell in the face of Rik's withering fire.

In duels or in the streets the legend that was Rik prevailed sweeping all before him. That was until a young buck turned the tables an attacked Rik from his favoured position. It was an inspired move and the disoriented Rik lost a duel for the first time.

Inspired, the White Knights rallied and evened the numbers in the fight before the cowardly Black Hand ran for the cover of the buildings. With the remaining gang members all having just one wound left both gangs agreed a final duel in the high street would be the only way to settle matters once and for all.

Fortunately for the White Knights they had just discovered a secret weapon - the Winchester rifle.

The advantage of advanced technology proved decisive and two shots from the Winchester felled the remaining Black Hand gang as thier pistols shots whizzed harmlessly by. The Rik had been defeated and the town was free once more!
