I’m more into the mechanics than the setting. Any GMs care to share what they like about the systems they run? And what sets them apart?
I usually get pulled in by the setting, though I do quite like the dice mechanic in the Fantasy Flight Star Wars game. You don’t just succeed or fail a roll, there’s a chance for an advantage / disadvantage to come up. So you might succeed in attacking a stormtrooper but also roll a disadvantage which may put you in a vulnerable position to a counter attack.
I’m up for playing pretty much anything, all this talk of RPGs has had me looking through what systems I’ve got and I fancy having another try at running Edge of the Empire and the one set in the Warmachine universe.
Set phasers to FUN!
You’ve done that just to annoy me!! 😡
I’m interested, I don’t manage to get down too much, but with a little notice I can make myself available
I thought you jumped out of a tree and stabbed it in the head?
that’s what we attempted to do, it went badly though! Then we had to run away with an old mouse in a wheelbarrow!
Gutted, had in my head you were doing this on Sunday
If I can get over, I’m up for a game.
I did indeed, I even got the forge world Chapter Master for my birthday, now I just need to get the main rules and I might be able to start playing again!
We don’t try to break the games, we accidentally break the games! Unless it’s one of yours Al, then we do it on purpose 😁
Looking good 👍
Looks like someone been reading the Gruffalo a lot!!
“The smell of death lies heavy in the air” Oriana Oathbreaker declared as she led her druids deeper into Frostgrave. Sure enough the shambling figures of several skeletons could be seen moving between the ruined buildings up ahead.
On the horizon she spotted something else moving, more figures, these ones entirely alive. A rival wizard come to steal her treasures. Apprentice Golthar conjured up an illusionary treasure pile hoping to trick the enemy.
Determined to secure her treasure Oriana enchanted the crossbow of her faithful Boarkin soldier, Gnarg, who quickly dispatched the nearest skeleton. While her newly constructed stone golem set to work on a second. Unfortunately the golem was unable to deal with the skeleton and was eventually reduced back to rubble.
Golthar and two other soldiers tried to move in to secure some treasure, but the two simpletons minds were overpowered by the enemy wizard and her apprentice. Ganandorf was eventually able to break free of the spell, only to be brought down by an enemy archer, while the fool Osyn delivered the treasure directly to the enemy!
One of the enemy soldiers was lured to the illusionary treasure and was brought low by a crossbow bolt from Lob. While Golthar was taken out by the skeletons which kept emerging from the mausoleum.
After securing two pieces of treasure, Oriana called a retreat, deciding to cut her losses and run.
In total Oriana managed to secure 230 gold, a pair of Gloves of Casting and a Grimoire of Explosive Rune, Golthar made a full recovery, Osyn will need time to heal his injury and a new golem will need to be built.
