Guard, Guard and more Guard

Using the wash style you have going on there is certainly getting you good results, particularly considering the volume you will be getting through with guard so i say keep going with it.
I could certainly show you how to detail your miniatures more but it will slow you down to a snails pace and probably drive you daft in the short term.
Are you looking to improve anything in particular or want to target in on something specific with your models?
As with everything getting better takes practice, but good paint brushes can also help
One thing i suggested to Will when he started with his marines was to invest in some basing products to lift the paint job, which he admittedly is doing a quick job on, with great results.
Vallejo brown earth is my go to; Vallejo Brown Earth Link.
Once dry it gives a nice texture, typically I paint this with Model Colour Chocolate brown then dry brush up to a sand colour.
Follow this up with a few shades of 4mm grass tufts super glued on (this site is great for that https://www.serious-play.co.uk/ and if you sign up to the news letter you can save £5 on a £15 order) and you have something that looks great with minimal effort and helps your model stand out. I typically mix shades of tufts, something like autumn dark greens and dead grass.

I can attest to the tufts as I began using them a Year for two ago and they do help the models alot.
I used one on each of my chaos warriors of nurgle and a small pool of nurgles rot too.
I tend to usee sand mixed with budgie grit on mine but for some I've tried this base ready range from geek gaming. The special glue they sell is fast sting but has latex in it so use an old brush lol.I
Various types but probably not a cheap as the basing stuff Craig's mentioned.

Also tufts i find easier than than static grass and the applicator!
That's a bit too much for me lol
I can get a great variety of tufts too, a lot of colours choices, I keep wondering what army i need or skirmish squad for purple tufts lol

cheers for the tips, i got some 'spring' grass tufts to base up and have been messing with resins to model some puddles on the bases.
Purple tufts Sounds chaos to me i try to stay clear of the xenos but my next project if i ever finish guard could be orks green and purple could work.

That’s a priest? He’s staggering along with a can of beer, waving a sharp object about.
Are you sure he’s not just a Saturday night King Street reveller?
